Mission Statement
Past Actions
A tightly-knit group of dedicated activists, lawyers, and community members with organizational, legal, and computer skills all working on a volunteer basis. We share a common commitment to the struggle against global corporate capitalism, and all forms of injustice.
The Collective formed in the spring of 2001 with the goal of providing solidarity support to activist and community groups involved in direct action, and have since begun working within the community at large.
We work to establish and maintain links to progressive local and national lawyers, legal organizations, other law collectives, and local community groups working for radical change.
Your Participation and Support
As Members We operate within a consensus model, and are open to new members. We take seriously our role within the community, and expect our members to adhere to our principles of confidentiality and trust. Each member and volunteer is held accountable to the rest of the group.
Justice and Solidarity would love to work with you.
If you hold the same anti-capitalist viewpoint on the legal system and have an interest in doing legal work, you may be our next future member! Please contact us so that we can start getting to know each other.
If your organization or community group would like a training in something we have experience in, please contact us.
The Collective does not receive any official or steady funding. If you would like to give a donation, or can help us out in other ways (e.g., free copies, great graphic design or website design skills), please contact us.
Mission Statement
Revised 10/2007
While the capitalist system is ripe for opportunity for rich employers, greedy landlords, or corrupted cops, the people are often alienated from the means by which they can protect themselves.
The legal system is also subject to the prejudices of capitalism, and has grown in our time to a complicated machine that favors the rich, and deliberately suppresses minorities and the poor.
The Justice and Solidarity Legal Collective chooses to make the law accessible to all people. We seek to work with populations whose forms of resistance we identify with and whose struggles we believe bring us closer to the revolutionary change we seek.
