Court Support
A great way to show solidarity with folks going through the criminal justice system is to show up at the court and sit in the courtroom when they're presented before the judge. It can be easier when we know we're not alone and, in same cases, can impress a judge to see that the person has support and is not forgotten.
You can check out our legal doc to get info on where the court is and how to navigate. Court is open everyday except for Saturday. You don't have to wait till a friend gets locked up to go down - you can go down any day and show your support for your fellow community members.
If you have a court date and would like support, please email us the details and we'll post the info here so that others know.
Thanks!
DC Books to Prisons - Meets every Wednesday night at the Foundry Church at 16th and P NW in DC. Sends boolks to prisoners that write and request them. A great way to show solidarity, meet new folks and make a real difference for a prisoner. The space is wheelchair accessible, though the books can be hard to get to. Packers are always needed.
Letter Writing parties! Gather your friends together and check out the Anarchist Black Cross web pages on Solidarity letter writing. Another great way to make friends and someone's day.
